Laurie Mendenhall Art: March 2026 Newsletter

Welcome to the Art Newsletter!

Welcome! I've been wanting to start a newsletter for a while now. I already write two blogs--one focused on art and creativity, and another centered on energy work--and that's a lot of writing for me and a lot of reading for you.

What I realized I was missing was a simple place to share announcements, new work, sales, and class offerings—all in one spot. This newsletter fills that gap.

Here, you’ll stay up to date on what’s happening in my studio, get to know me on a more personal level, and learn about my creative process and what inspires my work. This will be a once-a-month newsletter, and it’s also where you’ll find special offers, promotions, and exclusive deals just for subscribers.

I’m so glad you’re here, and I hope you’ll stick around.

What's happening in March

Monday night's at Connie's

If you're looking for me on a Monday night, I'll probably be at Connie's painting!

Several months ago, my friend and fellow artist, Gary Simon, invited me to an art class in Greensboro. It's more than just a class--it's a community. Artists of all levels come together for three hours of oil painting on Monday nights. You can arrive with all your supplies ready to go, or you can show up simply wanting to learn. There’s truly a price point for everyone.

What I’ve loved most is getting to know the other artists. We laugh, we cut up, and we have the best time during those three hours. The one thing we all have in common is learning from the incredible Connie Logan.

Art Show Prep Work

At the end of February, I came across several opportunities to show my work over the next year and a half. I could have waited for the “perfect” opportunity… or I could take a leap and get on the books.

I chose the leap.

Once a few shows were scheduled, I began planning the themes and deciding what I wanted to share at each one. Some shows will feature a single style—oils, watercolors, or Pop Art—while others will include a mix of styles presented in smaller vignettes.

Needless to say, I’ll be spending a lot of time in the home studio over the next few months preparing for my first show in June. My work will be on display for the entire month, with the reception date still to be announced.

Upcoming Shows

  • June 2026 - Studio 136
  • August 2026 - High Point Public Library
  • August 2027 - Nomad Wine Works

Paint with Me

During the month of June at Studio 136, I’d love to spend time painting with the people who enjoy my work. I’ll be hosting a Paint With Me studio night!

Just like my Wine & Design days, we’ll spend a couple of hours painting (acrylic on canvas), enjoying good conversation, and having a great time together. I’m working on a few design options, but if there’s something specific you’d love to paint, let me know! I have my eye on some fun summertime themes and can’t wait to put them up for a vote.

Commissions

Home and Pet Portraits as well as University Illustration commissions are open now. Limited space is available for University Illustrations for graduation. Let me know you saw this in my newsletter (and you're a subscriber) and I'll send you a discount code.

A Gentle Reminder

March is when we begin to awaken from our winter rest. Things may feel a little slow right now, but the seeds we've planted are growing--quietly preparing to burst out into the sunlight!

Don't forget to share this newsletter with your friends!

Well, well, well....it's a newsletter from me!

Welcome to the August Newsletter! Did July fly by or was that just me? All of the sudden it's time to get ready to go back to school, the mornings seem oddly cooler, and it's August! I'm not ready for summer to be over!! July was full of more coastal art, jewelry making, plenty of family time, and also a full blown re-brand! Just as the last hours of July were upon us, the last edits were being made to the website and branding kit. It may seem counter-intuitive, but moving away from a...

Welcome to the July Newsletter! WOW! June was so busy! So sorry if you missed all the fun, but we are heating up around here and things are moving and shaking. June was full of art and fun with my show at Studio 136 Gallery in High Point, NC. What a wonderful turnout we had for my artist reception. Thank you to each and every one of you who came out, shared a laugh, enjoyed some art, and maybe even took home a piece or two. It was an evening memory I won't soon forget! I also had a GREAT time...

Welcome May! Welcome! It's been a busy spring so far around here. I'm currently preparing for my artist showcase at Studio 136 in High Point. Last year, I had a very casual artist meet and greet at the new gallery in High Point, NC, It was a tremendous success. Next month, I'm showcasing some of the work that I've been doing for the last year. What Happened in April? Everything! We had a great event at Studio 136 called Snack N Paint--for the kids! A free art event for the kids. We had music,...
